Glycoproteins 

Proteins that contain oligosaccharide chains (glycans) covalently attached to polypeptide side-chains. Glycoproteins are often important integral cell membrane proteins, where they play a role in cell–cell interactions.

[note: not to be confused with peptidoglycan, proteoglycan, or glycopeptide.]

In the laB. world, Glycoprotein is used as a metaphor of Communication.
